May 17th is the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. This day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the issues that LGBT people are facing, as well as to draw attention once again to the alarming statistics and situation of human rights of LGBT people.

This day provides an opportunity to call on decision-makers in local and international organizations and bodies to pursue implementation of effective laws that protect the rights of LGBT people and to adopt strategies that meet the needs of the LGBT community and to take particularly decisive steps towards creating an atmosphere of equality, dignity, tolerance and respect.
